NEW DELHI: Italian sports car manufacturer Pagani Automobili has debuted its new creation, the Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta, at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed in England. With a price of £13.5 million, which is approximately Rs 122 crore, the 800PS hypercar claims to be the most expensive car of recent times.
It is an ultra-limited edition car with just three units rolled out of the production, all of which are already sold.
The Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta is based on the popular mid-engined Pagani Zonda, which was first created 19 years ago. The car is specially made for those who like to feel the natural air while speeding as the open-top model will not offer any kind of attachable or convertible top.
The key elements include a cropped windshield and carbon-titanium composite components, inspired by the Huayra. The contrasting wheels too have an interesting pattern with the left-side wheels painted in silver while the right ones in blue.
Besides a hyper exciting design, the boutique hypercar gets an aggressive 7.3-litre Mercedes-AMG M120 V12 naturally aspirated engine, mated to a six-speed manual transmission. It provides the 1,250kg weighing Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta with a power-to-weight ratio of 640PS per tonne and makes it capable of doing a 0-100kmph sprint in just 3.1 seconds.
The suspension is four-wheel independent wishbones type, upper rocker arm with coil springs and adjustable Ohlins shocks. It also gets an anti-roll bar and 380mm brakes with ventilated discs, six-piston calipers up front, and four-piston calipers at the rear.
