The theme of the vast majority of tattoo art designs is taken by artists from various elements that are part of nature. The works of Korean tattoo artist Dong Hwa Kim feature floral designs that seem to stand at the intersection of realism and illustration.
We should mention that from the beginning of tattoo history various scenes of nature inspired tattoo artists. The theme of their work was nature itself. The heroes of the images they created were animals, birds or landscapes. It is interesting the fact that in the conditions of the development of civilisation and the improvement of body art, nothing has changed in the case of the subject related to nature. In the designs that make up tattoo art, images taken from nature continue to dominate in any style.
Dong Hwa Kim’s works stand out for their special delicacy and romantic nature. They are known all over the world.
The Beginning of Dong Hwa Kim’s Creative Activity
Dong Hwa Kim started tattooing in 2017. In the beginning, a friend helped her. Then she worked on her own and made tattoos on rubber artificial skin for months. After working alone for a year, she moved to StudiobySol at the end of 2017.
As for painting itself, she has been painting since her school years. After graduating from art high school, she entered Hongik University, the best art institution in Korea.
Dong Hwa Kim’s works include various subjects, but the main subject of her work is the flower. The artist notes that the flower tattoo is the theme that is loved and accepted by everyone. She differs from other tattoo artists in that she does not present images of flowers in different styles and does not create mixtures with other images. She prefers to present flowers as close to natural as possible, because she thinks that their natural beauty is already wonderful and there is no need to add other elements to them.
