After The Hunger Games‘ Jennifer Lawrence and Divergent‘s Shailene Woodley kicked some serious butt, it’s Chloë Grace Moretz’s turn to play heroine in a post-apocalyptic world.
The 18-year-old actress turns into a warrior and breaks out the big guns in the sci-fi film The 5th Wave, which is based on a the first of Rick Yancey’s young adult novel trilogy. Moretz plays Cassie, who fights for survival, along with her family, following several waves of alien attacks on Earth. The first trailer was released on Tuesday.
“First they took our power, throwing our world into chaos,” she says, as a plane is seen falling from the sky. “Then they took our cities, laying everything to waste. Next, they took our lives, with an unstoppable airborne virus. Worst of all, they took control. The Others were already among us, exterminating anyone who had survived.”
“We can’t trust anyone anymore,” says Office Space star Ron Livingston, who plays her father.
The 5th Wave also stars Ray Donovan‘s Liev Schreiber, Maria Bello, Melissa & Joey actor Nick Robinson, Transparent‘s Zackary Arthur, Alex Roe, Maika Monroe and Maggie Siff, best known for her role as Tara on Sons of Anarchy.
