Argentinian media published the pictures of the odd-shaped object which was apparently accidentally captured on film by a photographer snapping the location.
The cameraman, who has not been identified, is said to be a “responsible” professional, but the bizarre capture has led to claims of a hoax.
According to elentrerios.com in an article translated from Spanish, the picture was taken last week “with the mere intention to portray the characteristics of the place”.
It added: “However, the photographer was surprised to see in the picture an unidentifiable flying object.”
The image was said to have been taken in the countryside of La Aurora, near to Daymán Salto, which faced controversy in the 1970s after multiple UFO sightings.
Scott C Waring, editor of UFO Sightings Daily, is believes it is one of the best ever doughnut UFOs ever captured on film.
He blogged: “It is an extraordinary catch.
“This UFO is ring shaped. It has an opening in its bottom that goes to its top.
